Digital Doodads and Raindrops

Even members of his own caucus called Metzgar out on being a “Campaign Conservative”. Looks like Matt Morgan has some ‘splainin to do on his association with the fake “Marylanders United” too…..

In the Mar 27 edition  of the Avenue News, we witness the saga of "Minister" Delegate Ric Metzgar (R) attempting to justify his puzzling vote for the Budget Reconciliation and Financing Act (BRFA). Brace yourselves for a whirlwind of unsubstantiated claims and political acrobatics that could put a contortionist to shame. If his antics continue, it seems the only seat he'll be occupying in 2026 is the one in his living room.

Metzgar, the lone Republican champion of the BRFA, claims he's simply tired of “continually kicking the can down the road." But let's be real here, his colleagues aren't buying it, and neither are his constituents.

Now, let's dissect Metzgar’s claims. He swears up and down on Social Media, radio, and TV interviews that he wasn't promised anything for his vote.

Yeah, right. Last time he pulled that stunt, he suddenly found himself with a plush new office (kicking out Republican Del. Joe Boteler) and a shiny new title (subcommittee Chair). Talk about perks!

And don't even get me started on his ongoing concern for community projects. Voting for the budget each year apparently greases the wheels for him to bring home the bacon. But here's the kicker: he ADMITS past funding hasn't fixed diddly squat.

“The Back River Bridge is the gateway into Essex. This is the first thing people see coming into the community. He was promised these infrastructures would be taken care of a few years ago.”

Seems like a contradiction to this observer.

Oh, but it gets better. Metzgar has the audacity to claim we will only be paying a measly $200 more per person due to some minor tax tweaks.

“Yes, we will be paying a little more in some taxes and fees which deal with electric cars, charging stations, and items the average person doesn’t use.…However, if you do the calculations, it comes out to about $200 per person.”

Newsflash! We've been getting nickel-and-dimed for ages with taxes on everything from digital doodads to raindrops.  As a reminder to the Delegate and to you folks, here’s a short list:

  • Digital Tax
  • Fuel tax (tied to inflation)
  • Property Assessment increases (24%)
  • Rain Tax 2.0
  • Vehicle Tag Fees
  • Alcohol Tax
  • Pay Raises for Legislators

Your $200 estimated tax-hike is like putting a band-aid on a sinking ship.

So, behold the grand spectacle of over-bloated budgets! For a mere $40 BILLION over the last decade, Maryland taxpayers have been treated to the most extravagant display of fiscal irresponsibility. It's like a never-ending magic show, Three Card Monte,  where the disappearing act involves your hard-earned cash. Abracadabra, folks, your wallets have vanished into the abyss of government spending!

And let's not forget his pro-life stance, which conveniently takes a backseat when it comes to funding abortions. But hey, he’ll vote for the budget as long as his district gets that special park, right? I'm sure God will understand on Judgment Day.

But wait, there's more! He voted for Kerwin (an unfunded mandate for education), escorted the Democratic governor to the podium, and his falsified-conservative rating is a half-baked cake. It's like his family’s tradition of political flip-flopping.

Ah, the plot thickens with yet another dubious claim from Delegate Metzgar. He graciously thanks everyone for their support, claiming to have received praise from all corners for his "courage and leadership."

Yeah, right. I'm sure his fan club is just bursting with Democrats and RINOs patting him on the back. Because nothing says "courageous leadership" like cozying up to the opposition while your own party scratches their heads in bewilderment.

Just look at the text posts by his son Rick……like father, like son????

Again let's be real here. In times like these, with the economy doing the limbo under a low bar, nobody's lining up to heap praise on a politician for adding more weight to their financial burden. It's like thanking someone for giving you a lead balloon and expecting you to float. Nice try, Delegate Metzgar, but we're not buying what you're selling.

So, will the Baltimore County Republican Central Committee finally step up to the plate and censure him on violating their own platform?

After all, Metzgar is the same Delegate who signed a "no-tax" pledge, and according to his Chief of Staff, never voted for a tax increase.

He’s right, he didn’t vote for just one tax increase…..he voted for them all! It's enough to make you wonder if there's a mirror in his office, because the reflection doesn't match the nonsense.
